SAP Business Objects Planning and Consolidation Overview:

SAP Business Objects Planning and Consolidation (SAP BPC) Product support to meet organization operational planning requirements, as well as complete consolidation and reporting through a single application. The SAP BPC Product works smoothest, timeliest financial close possible - all through a single application, which provides easy of User interface showing a speed of operation and flexibility.

1.1.   Planning:

BPC software provides planning, budgeting, financial forecasting in a single application, complete all the needs to achieve future forecasting for business growth. Main functionality has been given by this application is to have flexibility for adjustment of predictive data on desire basis.

1.2.   Consolidation:

Consolidation refers to merging many things into one. Financial consolidation is the aggregation of the financial statements of a group of companies into one as a consolidated financial statement. It is a process to accurately create financial statements by following legal accounting rules. BPC application Centralize all Financial-related data and perform consolidation processes defined by GAAP and IFRS.

1.3.   Reporting:

SAP BPC provides platform of Microsoft Excel on an enterprise-scale, transforming Excel from a personal desktop tool into a collaborative, enterprise-scale that provides users with a familiar, intuitive, readily accepted environment. Microsoft Excel as the easy-to-use interface for all administrative tasks. 



1.      SAP BPC Versions:

2.1   SAP BPC Version of Microsoft Platform

BPC Microsoft is dependent on SQL Server database and can only use sql based script logic. Suggestion: Only if ERP system is not in scope, we can go for MS version installation.

2.2    SAP BPC for NetWeaver

BPC NetWeaver is database independent and leverages number of powerful SAP features to provide life cycle management, real time debugging and other key capabilities.BW system is the backend for NW version.


1.      SAP BPC Releases History:

History of evolution of SAP BPC Versions starting from 2007 till Date.



In 10.1 Release, we have 2 types of BPC NW Versions:
  • Standard or Classic 10.1 SAP BPC NW: Modified version on 10.0 Only. It works on Account based model only.
  • Embedded or Unified 10.1 SAP BPC NW: Integrated with SAP HANA and BW-IP. More advance, works on key figure model.
